Morning Notes: Sexson’s attitude factored into his release

His tenure with the M’s started out with promise, but when things go bad on the good ship Mariner, they tend to go real bad.

Richie Sexson, the 20th highest plaid player in MLB was released Thursday and it seems it was more than his terrible numbers that prompted the move. Manager Jim Riggleman told the Seattle Times that Sexon’s attitude played a part as well.

Sexson joined the M’s in 2005 and had a productive season, finishing 15th in the AL MVP balloting. He hit for a .263 BA, 39 HR, 121 RBI, .541 SLG, 144 OPS. His number declined slightly the following season and then began to nose dive in 2007 and 2008.

M’s can’t hit, lose
Kind of the same of song and dance. Good enough pitching, terrible hitting. M’s go down to the Royals, 3-1.
