Morning Notes: NBA steps in a pile of Schultz

I think after two years of litigation, every Sonics fan should get an honorary law degree from the University of Washington. Yesterday, the P-I reported the NBA filed a motion seeking intervention in the Howard Schultz lawsuit saying that Mr. Coffee’s suit will interfere will stable operations of the franchise. I suppose this is under the assumption that any of the NBA franchises have stable operations. I’m guessing, not.

Seattle SuperSonics: The Wake
The Seattle Times has a special section today about the Seattle SuperSonics, 1967-2008. I must admit, I haven’t read much of it since it’ll probably send me into a tailspin. The P-I counters with a cool “How it all began” story. After reading all this you’ll need a handful of Xanax and a bottle of red wine to recover.

‘I am the smartest man alive!’
This is one step above a penis measuring contest, but it is fun nonetheless. Danny O’Neil from the P-I created a “Test your Seattle sports literacy” quiz.

Hello Cleveland!
A really belated “thank you” to And One for this. We’ll be there for you if LeBron goes all Jay-Z on you.

Corcoran posts first win
The M’s uncork a big five-run fifth inning while pitcher Roy Corcoran stepped in nicely for an injured Miguel Batista as the Mariners beat the A’s 6-4. Corcoran pitched 2-2/3 shutout innings after Batista left the game in the fourth with a groin injury.
