The number of Red Sox fans at the game last night was embarrassing. I fully expect to see those same people wearing Cubs jerseys next year during interleague play. Read my extended rant here. Back to the game: Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester of Tacoma went 7-1/3 innings and former Mariner farm hand Jason Veritek hit a two-run homer as Boston beat the M’s 4-0. Big ups to The Mitten’s brother-in-law for great seats last night. He was the only Red Sox fan in the joint who knew who was playing shortstop for Boston.
Sounders jump on the magic carpet
If you like soccer and you were a Sonics fan, then you’ll be happy to hear Kevin Calabro calling Major League Soccer action for Seattle Sounders FC games next year. KING 5 and KONG 6 will broadcast all the games, including pre- and post-game shows. Obviously, Calabro won’t be moving to Oklahoma to call Oklahoma City Thunder games – and who could blame him.
Shockey goes to Saints
The Saints traded for Jeremy Shockey, but this is just an excuse to replay the video showing him prematurely celebrating on the sidelines before Jay Feely missed a game-winning field goal against the Seahawks a couple years ago.
