This Week’s Man Crush: Nobody

That’s right. Nobody. No love to nobody. Why you ask? Why can’t The Mitten find a Seattle Man Crush this week? Let’s recap.

The Mariners finished off their pathetic season with a record of 61-101. Not much to love there.

On Saturday, the Huskies were drilled by Arizona 48-14 in a game that was hardly competitive. Jake Locker is out for weeks with a thumb injury and head coach Tyrone Willingham is parading around with the lame duck tag.

I was listening to an interview with Husky great Steve Emtman on Sports Radio 950 KJR on the way into work this morning. He sounded so depressed, I wanted to call the State Patrol and have them put out an all points bulletin for Emtman to make sure he didn’t jerk his car off the road into an overpass support column.

On Sunday, the Seahawks fell asleep during another trip to the east coast. Their game against the Giants was over in the first quarter. The eventual score was 44-6. I tell you this because you probably stopped watching at halftime.

Receiver Deion Branch returned from injury, only to be injured again and out indefinitely with a bruised heel. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck hyper extended his knee during the game, but Seahawks say that it’s nothing to worry about. Oh, really? OK, we’ll just ignore this along with the barrage of bad news emanating from Seahawks headquarters these days.

At least you have the NBA season to look forward to. Just think, you can plan your trip down to Portland to watch the Blazers play the Oklahoma City Thunder. No, really – it’ll be great.

About the Man Crush: This is a weekly installment for the blog where, for good or for bad, I’ll highlight one stand-out player or sports celebrity.
