Morning Notes: Bedard interviews with Philly radio station

Seattle Times Mariners beat writer Geoff Baker blogs that starting pitcher Erik Bedard went on the air with a Philadelphia ESPN radio affiliate as trade rumors swirl around his possible dealing to the Phillies. Not sure how great an interview it was since Bedard has a penchant for one word answers to questions, but apparently he may be warming to the idea of heading out of Seattle. If Philly is in need of an aloof pouter who won’t throw more than 100 pitches an outing, then Bedard is your guy. Actually, he’s great. Please take him.

Calabro speaks out
The voice of the Sonics(?) Kevin Calabro, who has been under a gag order like all other front office employees of the now Oklahoma City team, breaks his silence in Jim Moore’s column in the P-I. Calabro isn’t going to Oklahoma City, so at this point he has nothing to lose by speaking out. "I was embarrassed for the city," he told the P-I. "I was enraged that our council members would sit up there and titter and laugh nervously and congratulate themselves over being part of a 41-year history being sold. I was deeply embarrassed and still am.”

My friends at SeaTown Sports graphically outlined how the NBA has stuck a knife in every Sonics fan’s heart and broke it off. Act quickly to take advantage of these once-in-a-lifetime savings - it’ll only cost you your soul!

Remember the Wheedle
I was just happy to see the Wheedle again, thanks to SuperSonicSoul. I hate you Clay Bennett.

‘Baby Tejada’ progresses
Here’s an interesting story in the P-I about Carlos Triunfel, aka “Baby Tejada.” Triunfel, 18, is the No. 1 prospect in the M’s organization. The Dominican shortstop is hitting .333 in the High Desert Class A league. One American League scout says he’s the best thing to come through the Mariners farm system since Felix Hernandez.
